Local media agency receives national honour at UK’s most prestigious award ceremony dedicated to entrepreneurship.
A media agency has claimed a top honour at the UK’s biggest award ceremony dedicated to entrepreneurship. Gold medal-winning Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy, presented a key note speech and the awards were presented by television personality Alistair McGowan.
Founder of The New Media Company (now known as Digital 22), Mark Byrne, was declared the winner in the Best Business Media Video category in front of over 1,300 business owners at the National Entrepreneur Awards in Birmingham last Friday.
The design agency, which creates videos, animations and graphics as a marketing tool for businesses.
Mark aimed to create a video which incorporated humour and stood out from its competitors, with the intention of prompting people to share the video to help it go viral.
Within weeks of launching the video, Mark won over £10,000 of work and has recently completed videos for companies in France and Canada.
The award ceremony was part of the two day National Entrepreneur’s Convention on September 27 and 28, organised by Nigel Botterill’s Entrepreneur’s Circle, the UK’s largest membership organisation dedicated to the growth of small businesses.
Speaking about the awards Mark said: “Quitting my corporate job was the most frightening experience of my life so far, especially when everyone was telling me I was making the wrong decision.
“To receive a top national award especially when we were up against hundreds of other nominees was phenomenal."
“It’s made me believe that anything is possible and the future for our company is very bright indeed.”
