Admittedly I am new to the LinkedIn world, and before I started work at Digital22 I saw no need for it, it’s not for sharing pictures or chatting with friends. But for businesses and career forward people it couldn’t be more perfect. There are so many benefits to LinkedIn for a business I don’t know why everyone isn’t getting in on it. After extensive research I have come up with my top 5 benefits to businesses using LinkedIn.

  1. You receive a notification when someone changes jobs 

This may not seem like such an important thing, but look at it this way: say you sell fruit to smoothie companies, LinkedIn can notify you of suggested new connections in your industry and will also alert you when someone has a new role within a smoothie company that you are following. This allows you to identify who holds certain positions so you know who you need to contact.  All in all, making connections is one of, if not THE most important factor in a successful business, so utilising LinkedIn for connections will be very beneficial. 

  1. You can email up to 50 people at a time

Being able to contact all of your contacts in one go is both convenient and extremely useful, I feel this is most beneficial to your customers, rather than business to business. You could use this to inform your contacts of new products, new services, job opportunities, events and informing them of business milestones.

  1. Careers Section

The careers section of LinkedIn is not just for advertising your recent job openings although it does show people who may be looking for new career opportunities what you have to offer. With the optional upgrade to a silver or gold careers page, you can add videos to show possible new employees what your company is all about, alternatively you could link them back to your main website or Facebook page so they can get a better idea of what you are about.

  1. Traffic to Your Other Websites

LinkedIn for some businesses can just be another place to attract customers, and get as much traffic to their website or blog. This is important because if someone enjoys their experience on your website or your blog posts, they can share them to their friends, who in turn may then share them and you will keep building a customer base. 

  1. Recommendations and Endorsements

Recommendations and endorsements are great tools, because to most people they are extremely useful. You could have a great profile description but people still want to know what their potential new boss is really like, or it can also be used as a way of identifying people with skills you require who you could work with, which is why recommendations are important.
